Amphibious 48 Passenger / Light Cargo aluminium coastal boat. Built 2009, built with the latest new safety regulations. It is not a city street based bus type "Dukw", that were built in the 2nd World War. It is a coastal harbour craft. It has a very wide 3.8m beam which gives it a very good safety "Stability Book" and a "freeboard" (deck above water) of 0.7m approx and 6 individually sealed compartments for floatation. See sketch farther down page that compares dimensions of Beag Inis versus a Dukw. It is far too wide for street use. This is a robust and high specification coastal/river vessel built in 2009. It is based on a "Larc V" type vessel, which can drive up on hard mud/sand/gravel. The vessel was further developed in France and is used for coastal commercial shellfish and tourism. It is 38 feet (11.63m) long and 12 feet (3.8m) beam approx. The drive is hydraulic, with each wheel driven by hydraulic motor plus differential lock. There is a wheelchair friendly toilet on board and has storage for black water (toilet) on board. Roof can be opened for passengers.

It can be transported by road, wheelhouse can be removed and and roof items dismantled and placed in passenger area. Seats can be removed for commercial work.

It was designed by Dutch Naval Architect – Hugo Van Der Zwan and hydraulics by Marshall Engineering. It is a Passenger ship operating in a large estuary and licence may be upgraded. She has six sealed compartments under deck.

It is robustly built to a high specification in Marine Grade Aluminium. The hydraulics are high specification. It has a differential lock giving high traction. It is environmentally friendly. There is no external exhaust going into the water and engine is air cooled.

It could also be used commercially. A crane may be added. It can drive beside a truck to take a pallet to a location on water or an island etc. Roof and sides could be removed to have a large clear deck area - would require minor engineering.
This vessel would be useful on the shore side, estuary of pipeline or windfarm etc. No need for a nearby pier.

The boat is used weekly, and is used for personal use to travel to an island. only 1400 hours approx. on engine.
