Dogs in photos belong to friends, no animals have lived on the boat. Please note that all walls and ceilings have 15mm of plywood throughout. 9mm of hardwood ply screwed onto the batons, 6mm birch ply glued and pinned, and finished with osmo hardwax oil on the surface. There is no MDF on this boat, unlike some/most of the fully finished Collingwood boats which I have seen with just a 6mm veneered MDF forming walls, you cannot fix much to those with any confidence, and once the veneer is chipped it will swell with any moisture and look ugly. The thicker plywood construction will allow for wall or ceiling fixings to be made anywhere, and also offer better insulation. Same applies to the flooring, this is a tongue and groove SOLID tropical hardwood floor reclaimed from a prestigious dining hall in central London (not engineered or laminate). Extremely durable and can be sanded over and over again to give a beautiful finish in many years to come. The same guy who showed me his 6mm mdf walls (Sailaway lined boat from Collingwood) is now replacing his engineered flooring to hardwood as it has swelled/starting to perish within a few years.
Selling with a heavy heart as I intended to keep this boat for many years, it’s been an amazing experience so far and I’m currently loving being on the River Thames. However I have bought a plot of land in Cornwall and now need the sale of the boat to fund the building project. It truly is a joy to live on this boat and will no doubt make the new owner/owners very happy. Karamea has navigated from Sawbridgeworth on the River Stort down through to Roydon, the entirety of the River Lee from Hertford to Limehouse Basin, the River Thames from Limehouse to Brentford (an amazing trip through central London, highly recommended), the Grand Union up to P&S Marine in Watford, and now currently moored up in Kingston Upon Thames.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. Open to offers. Thanks, Jack.
